The foundation and development of the city of Novosibirsk is closely connected with the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. It was decided to place the railway bridge over the Ob River south of the previously planned location, so the Ob station appeared, which later became the city of Novo-Nikolaevsky, now Novosibirsk.
The Trans-Siberian Railway (the old name is the Great Siberian Way) is the longest railway in the world (9.288 thousand km). Tolmachevo Airport is one of the most intensively developing airports in Russia and the largest transit hub in Siberia on the most important routes between Europe and Asia.

By the end of 2023, the airport served 9,093 million passengers (+19.9% from 2022), which is an absolute record in the history of the airline.
