The resources available in the region are sufficient for harvesting about 5 million cubic metres of wood annually. Currently, however, less than 1.5 million cubic metres of timber is harvested.

Several forestry projects have been launched in the region. One of them is being implemented in the Chanovsky District. The investor intends to invest about RUB 120 million in wood processing, as well as create 100 jobs.

The intention is to carry out deep processing of hard-to-reach hardwood in the Kyshtovsk and Severny Districts. About RUB 2.5 billion will be invested in the project.
