The structure of the Novosibirsk Region’s economy is not typical for Siberia. It has a high degree of diversification and significant innovative potential. Industrial production based on high-tech developments, the construction industry, the real estate market, science, transport, communications, information technology, and trade are the drivers of the region’s economic growth.

In 2023, the Novosibirsk Region ranks 13th in the National Rating of the investment climate in the subjects of the Russian Federation. The rating is calculated based on 44 indicators in 4 areas: the regulatory environment, business institutions, infrastructure and resources, and support for small businesses. Not only statistical data are used to compile the rating, but also surveys of businessmen and experts.

World-class scientific, educational, and innovation centre
The concentration of scientific personnel in Novosibirsk is 1.5 times higher than the national figure.
The creation of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences, the largest scientific centre in the east of Russia, led to the establishment of a production and scientific hub here. As a result, the Novosibirsk scientific and technological complex is the third largest in Russia.
The Novosibirsk Region has 51 academic institutes, 71 branch research institutes, and more than 100 large and 1,700 small enterprises associated with technical innovation activities.
23 higher educational institutions of the region train students to enter almost every profession. Novosibirsk is an educational centre that attracts talented and ambitious young people from across the country. Over 60% of students studying in Novosibirsk come from other cities.
Now, due to the Novosibirsk Science Center development project (Akademgorodok 2.0), a modern world-class scientific and technological complex is being created on the basis of the educational and innovative ecosystem of the Novosibirsk region. It includes the implementation of 31 projects of scientific and innovative infrastructure (274 billion rubles), 67 projects of social, engineering and transport infrastructure (155 billion rubles), the creation of 13 high-tech industries (20 billion rubles).
Developed park infrastructure
The Novosibirsk Region is a platform for the development of large park projects. These are the Industrial and Logistics Park of the Novosibirsk Region, the Technopark of the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok (Academpark), and the Koltsovo Biotechnopark.
The largest industrial park in Siberia
It is an industrial park of the greenfield type. It was created in 2008 on the initiative of The Government of the Novosibirsk Region and the Development Corporation of the Novosibirsk Region. Investors benefit from specially created engineering and transport infrastructure built in the park. 35 Russian and international companies are implementing their projects in the Industrial and Logistics Park at the moment. By 2023, residents of the park have invested more than 70 billion rubles in the development of their projects.
Russia's most efficient technopark
At the moment the Academpark employs more than 350 resident companies in areas such as instrumentation, information technology, biotechnology and biomedicine, nanotechnology and new materials.
World-class competence
The Biotechnopark has created all the necessary engineering and innovative infrastructure for the development of biotechnological and biopharmaceutical companies. The structure of the park includes a site for the placement of specialized enterprises – the first stage is already occupied by residents, the selection of a land plot for the second stage is underway. A powerful laboratory complex has also been created in the Biotechnopark, which includes chemical-analytical, microbiological and clinical diagnostic laboratories. It is planned to create a toxicological laboratory.
From a defense enterprise to an industrial park
It is a private industrial park of the brownfield type. It was created on the basis of a defense enterprise that had been opened in 1939. In 2015, it became the first private industrial park in Russia to receive a certificate of compliance with the National Standard of the Russian Federation «Industrial Parks. Requirements». Its first resident was Novosibirsk Cartridge Factory. Today, there are about 150 residents in the park, and 3.5 thousand workplaces have been created. The park's management company is New Leasing Company LLC.
The territory of industrial development
It is a private industrial park of the brownfield type. It is designed to accommodate manufacturing enterprises in the industrial part of Novosibirsk. It was established in 2016 on the territory of JSC «Ecran Factory». In the same year, it received a certificate of compliance with the National Standard of the Russian Federation «Industrial Parks. Requirements». Currently, 203 legal entities operate on the site, 4 of them have the status of the residents.
